Thanks For Having Us Bromley Pageant!

Fellow Goblin, Helen Stanley and I were invited along to this year’s Bromley Pageant of Motoring with Peter James Insurance and we were just amazed at the quality of cars on display. I have posted a few of my favourites above, isn’t that Lincoln Continental striking? It won an award at the show, which I think you will all agree, was well deserved!

The rain held off and we had an amazing time at Norman Park checking out the cars. I particularly enjoyed the ‘Father and Son’ display of classic vs modern versions of the same models and I loved blagging a sneaky test drive of Kia’s new sports saloon, the Stinger.

Unfortunately, we only had time to look at a handful of the cars on display as Helen and I were so busy in the main show ring. We did get the opportunity however to speak to the fantastic ex-Top Gear presenter and motoring journalist Sue Baker, as she quizzed us on our first series of Goblin Works Garage and asked us to talk through some of our favourite cars that we had spotted throughout the day. We also chatted to Dale from Auto Seal and all the award winners from the show.

The best part however, was meeting all the petrol heads, car nuts and Goblin Works Garage fans at the show. It was a pleasure to speak to you all and we just love to hear your thoughts on our previous builds from the show, good or bad, we are here to challenge your motoring perceptions! And it was lovely to meet some Engine Addict fans in the crowd too!

Thanks everyone for having us and we hope to see you again next year!

Meet the Goblins at Bromley Pageant – This Sunday!

Apologies for the radio silence on the blog recently, I have been busy working on some new projects that have left me with little time to keep you all updated!

I do have a very exciting event this weekend however that I couldn’t wait to tell you all about – the Bromley Pageant of Motoring. I will be joining the rest of the Goblins – Ant & Helen there, as we have kindly been invited along as guests of honour. We cannot wait to take a closer look at all of the fantastic cars and bikes and meet some of our loyal fans and fellow car nuts.

It looks like it is going to be a great day out and certainly worth a visit for any petrol head! Personally, I think the 50 Years of Ford Escort looks like a display not to be missed! And as the event this year is being held on Father’s Day, the organisers have even got a Father and Son display arranged, which sounds great!

With live music, an autojumble, classics & future classics car displays, car clubs, cars for sale and a bar on a bus (so I have heard), this event is one not to be missed! The event takes place 9:00-17:30 this Sunday at Norman Park, Bromley – click here for tickets!

See you there!

The Goblins Visit Brands Hatch for the British Super Bikes

I am just back from Brands Hatch where the Goblins and I went to watch the British Super Bikes Championship 2018. We had a great time supporting Jack Scott of JJ Racing and the sun even made an appearance for the first time this year, which meant ice-creams all round! We loved meeting the different teams and talking to the riders, mechanics and anyone else who stopped for a chat with us over the weekend.

At one point we even made it up the Control Tower with Eurosport’s James Hayden and had a spectacular view of the entire track. Helen even got the chance to be Jack Scott’s Brolly Dolly! We watched Jack’s first race from the top of the tower and wow what a race!

Earlier in the day I met up with the guys from True Heroes Racing, a fantastic motorcycle race team, who are made up entirely of injured service people. They were all busy working on their bikes so I am very grateful for the time they spared talking me through what they were up to and I even found a few fans of the show in the team, which was an added bonus!

We finished the day off with a Facebook Live video of the three of us watching the bikes, drinking beer and eating hot dogs – so if that is your thing you can watch it here.

We are pleased to say that Jack had a well deserved race win on the Sunday! A special thanks to Wes, Jack and everyone else at JJ Racing for inviting us down and being such great hosts – good luck with the rest of the season!

Thank You NEC For Another Great Weekend!

Some of you may have visited the Goblin Works Garage stand at the NEC in November, a few months before we hit your screens with Season One of our show. Well the weekend before last Helen, Ant and I were back in Birmingham to once again visit one of our favourite car show venues for their Classic Car and Restoration Show. The three of us took to the Practical Classics Live Stage with Discovery to discuss all things Goblin and share a few of our favourite moments from the first series.

Thank you to everyone who watched us on stage or who came up to us after to chat about the show. We are so pleased with the positive response and we loved to hear your feedback about the cars and bikes that we built during the six episodes.

For those of you that couldn’t make it to the event, I have popped some photos below of a few of my favourite finds…

This is my third year at this show and every year it seems to be getting bigger and better. My favourite element of this particular event is the fact that everyone brings their cars to work on during the show; there were people in overalls, covered in grease, with their heads under their bonnets and frankly I just wanted to join in – what better way is there to enjoy cars?

One particular car club that we absolutely adored and had a great laugh with was the Gay Classic Car Group, who were even kind enough to help us with a Facebook Live video that you can check out here! We didn’t manage to stop by their stand on Sunday afternoon to check that all their work was finished so we are hoping that no one had to be trailered home! We even had time to meet up with a few of our Discovery / Quest TV pals including Mike Brewer and Ant Anstead from Wheeler Dealers, who had flown in from America, and Paul Cowland from Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars, who is about to start filming Season Two of his fantastic car show with Drew Pritchard.

Thank you to everyone at the NEC for putting on another super show and allowing us to be part of it. We had an absolute blast talking to you about our builds and hearing all your comments about the first series of our show (available on Quest OD).

Honda F1 – Turbocharger Self-Powered Boost

Sunday evening is the perfect time to feel nostalgic, so I thought I would share a video with you that Honda asked us me and my good friend, Greg, to make a few years ago.  With F1 focusing on fuel efficiency, we take to the workshop to explain how the Honda F1 Power Unit powers its own turbocharger, by reusing the energy that would have been lost through the exhaust.

Goblin Works Garage – Ep.6 Teaser – Datsun

Can you believe it, we have nearly arrived at the final episode of Goblin Works Garage’s first series? And tomorrow night at 9pm we are certainly going out with a bang, in the form of a Datsun Z-Car, the grandfather of the ‘fast and furious’ street racing scene. We completely rebuild the car Goblin style and you’ll just have to tune in to Quest tomorrow night at 9 to find out exactly what that means!

As it is our last show of the series, I just want to thank every one of you who has tuned in over the past six weeks. I hope you have enjoyed watching me and the team slam Land Rovers, put V8s in Capris, crash Mk2 Escorts and do all the other crazy stuff us Goblins are all about. I have popped some stills from the show above so you can relive what has been a lot of hard work but also an unforgettable time for us three petrol heads, as well as the rest of the team behind the show. If you’ve missed any of the series so far, don’t forget you can catch up on Quest OD – here’s the link you wonderful people.

And if you just can’t get enough of my crazy builds, make sure you are following my Rage Buggy Build on here and on my Youtube Channel.

Goblin Works Garage – Ep. 5 Teaser – ’58 Chevy Apache

In tomorrow’s episode of Goblin Works Garage and the penultimate show of the series, Ant surprises us with a ’58 Apache. It’s already a monster of a truck, but as usual we want to take it further by giving the whole body a lift. Will we thank Ant for this surprise? You’ll have to watch to find out!

In the meantime, enjoy this clip from the show!
